Although Russia and China hardly need another excuse for their invasion of Ukraine and threats to take over Taiwan, Trump’s imperial moves against Venezuelan oil and Greenland provide both countries with increased incentives to do so. And that’s the problem with these US actions—in the game of power politics and spheres of influence, China in particular is far better positioned to win that the United States is.
