Trump has often dismissed Europe and NATO as a drain on American resources, But assembling the military forces need to strike Iran show how central Europe is to America's military power and reach
Teaching our convicted criminal a lesson that I hope he learns. He can still attack Iran, but not at all with the power he likes. However, now that Putin has a naval ship with the Iranians who knows if the felon will bow
You know, trump could just ignore any EU protestations and charge ahead, with his usual "Try and stop me" MO. If push comes to shove, he'll get his way, daring any country to get in the way of US military operations in support of an attack upon Iran.
Yes, he could do that. But that will further rupture a relationship with Europe that has brought great benefits to the United States and reduce European willingness to accommodate US needs and desires (including basing access). Trump ignores that others have agency and leverage, too.
Well I guess the States are on their own now hmmm? Even Putin is against a war on a sovereign nation which is the height of irony at this point. I wonder if he'll now put every Iranian living in the US their whole lives into concentration camps in the US because he's declared them the "enemy of the people?"
The Trump administration doesn't seem to know geography or history. Just my humble opinion. Hope I haven't upset anyone.
