Rutte’s incessant need to remind the world he is a power bottom for Donald Trump is actually extremely dangerous. I wrote about this, let me know what you think:

As the head of NATO, Rutte is trying to keep the alliance together while it transitions from a US-led to a much more European organization. That transitions takes years, not weeks or months, because NATO was set up to be US-led. Its DNA and skeleton are American; adding European muscle is step one. Changing the bones and genes will take time. Rutte's political constituency is NATO, not an electorate like the European leaders. He can afford politically to do what he is doing too placate and manage Trump, because the backlash is commentary rather than political. He's been effective in that way, however distasteful it is to watch. You may not like it. I don't like it. But I understand why he does it and why he feels it's necessary to do.

For a man who has his own personal plane and unlimited funds to travel the world and see its different countries Trump seems to know nothing about any country, including USA.

If NATO cannot hold meetings, what good is it?
