Very straightforward assessment of why Ukraine should be in NATO and why it isn’t in NATO already. I agree on both counts. Russia is in Ukraine today because of decisions made in the 2008 (if I recall correctly) NATO Summit. We continue to make that same mistake as the years pile up. This hesitancy may cause Europe to lose not only Ukraine, but also Georgia and Moldova, to Russia. That would be a tragedy, and leave Europe much more vulnerable as a result.

Isn't NATO dead already? The US insists that the Europeans should increase their defense budget but to defend against who? It can hardly be Russia since it is on the friendliest of terms with the US and, as a consequence, us Europeans. What is unsustainable cannot last.

Shouldn't NATO Article 4 have been triggered already following the Russian shadow war? Another indication that the organization is a paper tiger. Agree with Macron's statement in 2019 “What we are currently experiencing is the brain death of NATO”.

Buying military supplies from the US i this situation is mostly a joke if the weapons cannot be used against targets inside Russia, as I have understood.

On the other hand, I can see a bright future for Ukraine with the strongest army in Europe and a promising future as a weapon shop - as it was in Soviet times. Should rebrand itself as Isher.

The follow on to NATO could be centered around the Eastern European and Baltic countries.
