NATO Is 77 Today — As Vital As Ever
On Bloomberg This Weekend, I explain why NATO is still vital to US Security
Seventy-seven years ago today, 12 nations signed the North Atlantic Treaty. NATO today faces the gravest crisis in its history. This week, Secretary General Mark Rutte will visit the Oval Office to try and convince President Trump to remain a member of this vital Alliance and to end his near-constant criticism and threats to leave.
I spoke with Christine Ruffini and Joe Mathieu about the visit, the importance of NATO more generally, and why the Iran War threatens America’s global standing and influence.

I'm not as informed as you are Ivo but from the beginning little dick has been beholden to Russia in his private business dealings. Is it too much to suppose that they have bought him now? NATO is the only strategic body that has kept the world in relative peace for generations. The president has taken the sanctions off Russia at just the time when Russia was running out of money to continue it's war in Ukraine now it can go full force ahead. I don't think that's a coincidence. I'm not an American but if I were I would view this president as a traitor to his country by everything he's been doing. I take no notice of what he says because he lies consistently but his actions are not those of a leader that wants his country to do better for all it's population. Maybe after he's gone the USA will be a trusted partner again but because there is so much big money in their elections and so much adversity in their relationships it's hard to see if future leaders will be able to fix this rift.
