Europeans need to step up and provide meaningful security guarantees for Ukraine. Enough dallying.

Europeans have been standing for Ukraine. The problem is that the USA who was selling them the weapons was told by Putin to stop helping them or he wouldn't get a share in the "spoils of war." The USA is THE largest supplier of weapons of war around the world. That's what made them and still makes them so rich!

The simple fact that tRump's fatuous son-in-law and erstwhile "developer" has joined the — cough-cough — "negotiations" bespeaks the unseriousness with which this regime takes these talks. Who has convinced tRump that this light-weight grifter has "skills" to contribute to this farce? Such a sad, sad, joke.

Excellent comment, and I agree. I still think there is strategic value for Europe to engage with Trump and work on a common US-UA-EU proposal. It has value because it draws Trump closer to the European / Ukrainan side of things. And if Putin rejects a „compromise“ on territory (and he will!), he will incite Trump‘s anger - possibly increasing US willingness to support Ukraine and pledge to provide security guarentees . Domestically, there is a risk for Zelensky to agree to a „free economic zone“ in Donbas. In the negotiations, there is not.
